James Muller has been a resident of Adams County for 51 years and has
a vested interest in maintaining the county as a safe place to live.
He is married with two sons, a daughter and six grandchildren. His oldest
son is a teacher and coach in the Conewago Valley School District and
his younger son is the Marketing Manager for Environmentally Safe Products,
Inc. in New Oxford.
His daughter is a representative for AFLAC as well
as being currently enrolled as a nursing student and lives in Dover,
PA.
After High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country during a 13- month tour in a Marine Recon Unit during the Viet Nam War. After serving a total of six years with the Corps, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant E-5. Arriving home, Jim worked in the building construction trade for a number of years and achieved his goal of starting and successfully managing his own masonry company. Later, because of his military service, Jim again became interested in a public service career. Through a variety of law enforcement and criminal justice positions, he became a member of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, a position and organization he loves. Jim is active in the shooting sports. In 1985 he won a National Pistol Championship and has participated in numerous NRA sanctioned pistol matches ever since. He is a proponent of physical fitness and is an active member of the Gettysburg Health and Fitness Club. He has participated in the PA Police Olympics each year winning numerous awards in the 5K run, Shot Put, 100 meter swim, 100 meter run among others. He brings that love of physical fitness to the community, especially among its children. He has sponsored and coached a team in the New Oxford Pee-Wee league and has helped trouble youths by being a “Big Brother” through the Adams County Youth Advocacy Program. He has also donated his time and labor in the masonry field to help build a concession stand at the New Oxford Senior High School football field.
